Dow Chemical appoints new manager

Dow Chemical, Middle East said it has appointed Majed Al-Majed as public affairs manager for Kuwait and Egypt.

In his new role, Al-Majed will be responsible for developing and implementing an integrated public affairs and communications strategy for Kuwait and Egypt, in line with Dow's global corporate strategy.

Al-Majed will also provide public affairs counsel and support to regional business leaders.

Al-Majed joins Dow from the regional headquarters of the MBC network where he was the channel executive for Wanasah.

Al-Majed oversaw business development, marketing and public relations activities for the channel. Previously, Al-Majed worked at the Ministry of Information in Kuwait, the Chamber of Commerce in Dubai and Showtime Arabia.

Al-Majed is a Kuwaiti national who has lived in and traveled extensively throughout Kuwait, England, Switzerland and the United States.

He holds a Bachelors degree in International Relations from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.

Dow has a thirteen-year presence in Kuwait through Equate Petrochemical Company, a joint venture company established with the petrochemical arm of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.

In addition, The Dow Chemical Company and Petrochemical Industries Company (PIC) of the State of Kuwait, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), continue to make progress on their $11 billion proposed 50:50 joint venture, known as K-Dow.

Established in the early 1970's, Dow in Egypt supports three of Dow's six global businesses, namely Basic Plastics and Chemicals, Performance Plastics and Chemicals and Market Facing Units. The office covers Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.- TradeArabia News Service
