VISA REQUIREMENTS
  Required by all except nationals of Algeria, Malta and Mauritania. Business visitors should be sponsored by a Libyan company. All travellers will be refused entry if they do not possess at least US$500 or equivalent. Visa applications must be accompanied by an Arabic translation of the first two pages of the passport. Holders of passports containing an Israeli visa will be refused entry.
   

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
  A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for travellers coming from infected areas. Precautions should be taken against cholera, typhoid and polio.
   

CUSTOM REGULATIONS
  200 cigarettes or 25 cigars or 250g tobacco. Import of alcohol and food is prohibited. Goods either made in Israel or manufactured by companies that do business with Israel are prohibited.
   

CURRENCY
  1 Libyan Dinar (LYD) = 1,000 dirhams
   

EXCHANGE RATE
  US$1 = LD1.344 (June 2006)
   

CURRENCY REGULATIONS
  No restriction on the import of foreign currency providing it is declared on entry; export is limited to the amount declared on import.
Import and export of local currency is prohibited.
Visitors are advised to check in advance with credit card companies to ascertain card acceptability in Libya.
